1 S. Qu.-8vo. "Ernst ist das Leben, doch heiter die Kunst! sagt der Dichter: wahrscheinlich hat er dabei nicht an einen Julimonat in Gratz gedacht, sonst hätte er wohl anders gesungen! […]". - Der Sohn Ludwig und Therese Dessoirs wurde zunächst von den Eltern ausgebildet und erhielt später Unterricht von Friedrich Werner in Mannheim. Er debütierte 1852 in Freiburg/Breisgau, spielte später in Meißen, Glogau, Mainz, Heidelberg, Stettin und Leipzig (1857-61), ging anschließend nach Bremen und führte 1863/64 in Weimar erstmals auch Regie. Seit 1864 am Kgl. Schauspielhaus Berlin tätig, ging er über Weimar nach Breslau und trat 1870 dem Verband der Hofbühne in Dresden bei. Dessoir pachtete 1877 das Breslauer Residenztheater, versuchte sich erfolglos als Theaterdirektor, kehrte 1880 am Prager Landestheater auf die Bühne zurück und spielte 1885-89 am Hoftheater St. Petersburg; seit 1889 gab er in Dresden Schauspielunterricht.

An eine Freundin über alte Freundschaften sowie einen Artikel über ihn in der "Neuen Freien Presse", der ihn an einen Nekrolog erinnert: "Entschuldigen Sie, wenn ich dieses unpassende Epitheton gebrauche. Wir, wahrhaft Alten, glauben nur an eine Freundschaft unter uns Zeitgenoßen und so will ich mir denn einreden, Sie wären ein 70 jähriges Mütterchen und wir kennten uns schon seit Menschengedenken [...] Eigentlich ist es nie wahr, wen[n] die Menschen glauben, daß man sich von früh an kennen müße, um sich so ganz treu zu bleiben. Ich weiß aus eigener Erfahrung, daß die meisten dieser Verhältniße complet vertrocknen [...] So war ich der Jugendfreund Palaky's [d. i. wohl der Historiker František Palacký, 1798-1876] und was lebt aus jener Zeit noch in meiner Erinnerung fort? Nichts, als daß er große Füße und eine ebensolche Neigung zum Tanze besaß. Wie würde es mich jezt freuen [...] tanzte man mit ihm über Österreichs Grenze hinaus! Hätte mir der Artikel der 'Freien Presse' nicht Ihren und noch ein pa[a]r andere liebe Briefe eingetragen, ich könnte mich über ihn ärgern. Primo - liest man so etwas wie einen Nekrolog - secundo, macht er eine Menge Leute rebellisch, die einem perturbiren zu müßen glauben [...] tertio ist einem dadurch die letzte Möglichkeit geraubt, sein Alter verleugnen zu können - sogar in fernen Gebirgsländern wo man auch schon Zeitungen liest. In diesem Falle befinde ich mich in diesem Augenblicke. Ich wohne mit meiner Schwester am Fuße des Loser, inmitten grüner Wiesen und zur Seite eines herrlichen Waldes. Die Landschaft läßt nichts zu wünschen übrig, aber um so mehr die Staffage: das alte Geschwisterpa[a]r! Wäre es nicht viel schöner, wir wären junge Neuvermählte? [...]". - Auf Briefpapier mit Trauerrand. Eine biographische Notiz von alter Sammlerhand in Bleistift. Mit kleinen Randläsuren.

An einen namentlich nicht genannten "Doctor": "Ihre gütige Nachsicht in Anspruch nehmend, daß ich so spät der Pflicht nachkomme, Ihnen für die überaus freundliche Einladung zu Ihren vortrefflichen Vorlesungen meinen ergebensten Dank zu sagen - erlaube ich mir zu gleicher Zeit den Betrag des Subscribtionspreises [!] für dieselben zu übersenden [...]". - Am Hoftheater in Hannover 1827 debütierend, lebte und spielte die Künstlerin mit großem Erfolg vornehmlich in Leipzig, wo sie den Schauspieler Ludwig D. (1810-74) ehelichte, sowie in Breslau, Mannheim und Stuttgart. Ihrer Ehe entstammte der Schauspieler Ferdinand Dessoir (1835-92). - Aus dem Besitz und in bedruckter Originalmappe der berühmten Autographensammlung des österreichischen Industriellen Adalbert Freiherr von Lanna (1836-1909).
