‎Carta Corografica degli Stati di S.M. il Re di Sardegna data in luce dall'ingegnere Borgonio nel 1683, corretta ed accresciuta nell'anno 1772.‎

‎Incisione in rame composta da 24 lastre incise in rame, di mm 360x470 circa caduna, riunite a formare una grande carta murale di cm. 200x250. Esemplare, intelato all'epoca, dipinto da mano del tempo. Celebre carta degli Stati Sardi, che comprende il Piemonte, Valle d'Aosta, Savoia, Liguria, ed i territori confinanti. Firmata sul rame in basso a destra "Jacobus Stagnonus incidit Taurini 1772, titolo su drappo a "trompe-l'oeil" in basso a sinistra, il mare animato da vascelli, rosa dei venti in alto. Questa carta è a torto considerata una riedizione di quella del Borgonio, ma in realtà essa ne conserva solo 7 rami, mentre 17 sono di nuova fattura, basati su nuovi rileva menti topografici. Tra il febbraio e l'ottobre 1772 se ne tirarono 300 esemplari; ad oggi pochii sono conservati e sono assai rari. Monumento cartografico importantissimo per il Regno Sardo, sotto l'aspetto geografico, storico e amministrativo. Sebbene provata da lunga esposizione a luce e polvere e con qualche difetto, conserva un grande fascino ed effetto decorativo, in quanto presentata con due lunghi bastoni antichi in legno nero modanato, cui è sostenuta da fettucce di tela nera originali.. In a very good condition. ~ Second edition. Steinmetz is particularly indebted to 'honest old Kaempfer' and Charles MacFarlane's report on Japan which was published in 1852 and was illustrations by Arthur Allom whose lovely woodcuts are also used here. ~ Provenance: From the private collection of Ing. ‎In sich abgeschlossener Einzelband aus der umfangreichen österreichischen Topographie (insgesamt erschienen 18 Bände), die früheren Bände unter dem Reihentitel "Historische und topographische Darstellung der Pfarren, Stifte, Klöster ... im Erzherzogthume Oesterreich". Den einzelnen Bänden beigebunden waren in der Regel ein bis zwei Tafeln und teils eine Karte, separat waren beim Verlag noch zahlreiche zusätzliche Ansichten zu beziehen, die üblicherweise den wenigen erhaltenen Bänden nicht beigegeben sind. Wegen der zahlreichen Ortsansichten sind auch Einzelbände vollständig nur selten zu finden. "Auch die in öffentlichen Sammlungen und Bibliotheken bekannt gewordenen Exemplare müssen durchweg als unvollständig bezeichnet werden" (Nebehay/Wagner). - Der vorliegende Band mit Ansichten des "Gew. St. Dorothea Stift" (Nebehay/W. 1) und von "Kirche und Kloster der Serviten in der Roßau" (Nebehay/W. 4), dazu der "Grundriß von der Roßau" (Nebehay/W. 3). - Gering stockfleckig und wenig gebräunt, vorderer Innendeckel mit kleiner Signatur. Einband leicht berieben und bestoßen, Rücken mit kleiner Kratzspur und schwachem Schatten eines abgelösten Etiketts, oberes Kapital minimal eingerissen. ‎Book appears to be in mint unread condition. 104pp. The story of the rediscovery of a Saxon stronghold near Bakewell in Derbyshire and the farming which supported it. It was constructed under King Edward the Elder in AD 920 in order to secure the cooperation of the Vikings in a united England. Extremely scarce.‎

Kosch 20,57ff; Killy 11,195. - Zweite, gegenüber der ersten Ausgabe 1846 vom Verfasser wesentlich erweiterte Auflage, "mit erheblichen Zugaben aus den neuesten Zeiten". Das Werk des bayrischen Kulturhistorikers und Schriftstellers St. (1812-1888), wollte "weder mit Bädeker noch mit seinen Nachfolgern concurriren" und war als Reiseliteratur konzipiert. Steub schilderte jedoch neben dem Land auch die Sitten und Gebräuche seiner Einwohner: "...ein in seiner Art unübertroffenes Werk, reich an Witz und Humor, voll Farbenpracht und Waldesduft. Mit historischen Erinnerungen, die sich auf gewissenhafteste Forschung stützen, wechseln Erörterungen sprachlicher Natur, farbige Landschaftsbilder, naturwahre Beiträge zur Kenntniß des Lebens und Charakters der Bauernschaft.
