‎Très importante plaidoirie prononcée en faveur de l'anarchiste juif Sholem Samuel Schwartzbard (1886-1938), qui avait tué en pleine rue Racine, le 25 mai 1926, l'ancien président du directoire ukrainien, Simon Petlioura, ancien hetman, commandant suprême de l'Armée et le troisième président de la République populaire ukrainienne, rendu responsable des pogroms de 1919.L'accusé fut défendu par l'avocat Henry Torrès (1891-1966), spécialisé dans la cause des anarchistes, au cours de séances qui eurent un grand retentissement. Le procès fut en même temps suivi par le journaliste Bernard Lecache, qui créa pour soutenir l'accusé la Ligue contre les pogroms, à laquelle adhèrent plusieurs personnalités, dont Albert Einstein. La Ligue contre les pogroms devint la LICA, puis la LICRA.
