Aber schon seit Jahrhunderten hat auch der Mensch seinen Anteil daran, indem er die Uferwälder rodete, die Seeufer auffüllte und befestigte, als Müllkippen verwendete oder in Siedlungsflächen umwandelte. Diesen raschen und einschneidenden Veränderungen konnten weder die ufermorphologischen Prozesse noch die Vegetationsveränderungen folgen, bevor sie oft von neuen Veränderungen überlagert wurden. Somit sind Gestaltwandel und Vegetationsveränderungen des Ufers der mitteleuropäischen Binnenseen bisher nur lückenhaft untersucht, nicht zuletzt auch wegen der Kommunikationsbarriere zwischen Wasserbauingenieuren, Limnogeologen und Biologen. Der Überwindung dieses Hindernisses soll das vorliegende Werk dienen, das die erweiterten Fassungen von Vorträgen und Postern enthält, die 1992 auf der Arbeitstagung "Seeuferzerstörung und Seeuferrenaturierung" in Konstanz präsentiert wurden.
