"A Jesuit, Pardies deserves a place in the history of physics for having intervened in the debate on the ideas of Newton and Huygens at certain decisive moments. His work, which is not extensive, is characteristic of a traditional period..... Although Pardies did not have the time to devote the full measure of his abilities to science, he was undoubtedly one of those vigorous intellects that science always needs.... His notions, as bold as they were n?ive, purported to demonstrate the spirituality of the soul by virtue of its capacity to understand the infinite through the 'clear and distinct ideas' of certain geometric arguments." - DSB.
1728In-4°piccolo, 72pp, (4),12 carte di tavola ripiegate, rilegatura in cartonato. Buone condizioni. Good condition. The work "teaches how to measure Lines, Angles, and Planes with this instrument: and more how to make it suitable, and to use it in the Altimetry measurements; adds the Practice of the Trigonometric Parallelogram (sic), as to detect the superficial quantities of the rectilinear Figures, with the Geometric demonstrations, above which this Operation is founded, and that of the Paralellogram of Father Cristoforo Scheiner, to draw and transport the Maps in any given proportion ". See Riccardi, I, 335: "It is a good elementary treatise for those times, on the use of these surveyor and graphic tools, which the further advances in practical mechanics have subsequently greatly improved. The history of the origin deserves also to be noted., factory and use of the Praetorian tablet '

1626ref. N334Nürnberg, Simon Halbmaier, 1626. Jahrhundert, in: Friedrich Seck (Hrsg.). Zum 400. Geburtstag von Wilhelm Schickard: zweites Tübinger Schickard-Symposion, 25. bis 27. Juni 1992, Sigmaringen 1995, S. 213). Zinner 5025. Ortroy 116. [2 Warenabbildungen]
