Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original manuscript autograph letter signed by Ruhi Sel. 30x21 cm. In Ottoman script and a 'title' annotation in modern Turkish. 1 p. Full. Ruhi Sel was a Turkish educator, pedagogue, physical education teacher in Trabzon, and a specialist in children and juvenile games. Celal Tutant, (1910-1994), was a Turkish artist. He was born in Çorlu in 1910. He studied secondary education at Konya Primary School. He graduated in 1932. He completed his higher education in the Department of Literature at the Gazi Education Institute. He married his teacher Efser Ismail in 1933. He took painting lessons from Ali Çelebi, Turgut Zaim, and Cemal Tollu. Since 1946 he gave his pictures to Turkish state exhibitions. His works are in private and institutional collections. In the 1940s, young artists aiming for new development in Turkish painting art established a union of painters gathered under the name 'Yeniler' [i.e. 'New']. 'Yeniler' aimed to produce paintings by making researches within the scope of a topic they determined. Their aim was to make pictures that reflect the life characteristics of the sections of society. They merged with the idea of "Painting should turn towards social realistic values".

Very Good English Original color photograph, hand-colored. 4to. (26 x 20 cm). A portrait. Signed and inscribed as 'To my dear uncle and mother, Fatma Sultana, New York, August 1940'. Sabia Sultan was born on 2 April 1894 in her father's palace in Ortaköy. Her mother was Nazikeda Kadin, daughter of Hasan Marshan and Fatma Horecan Aredba. She was the third daughter born to her father and mother. She had two sisters, Fenire Sultan, six years elder than her, and Ulviye Sultan, one year elder than her. When her father asecended the throne in 1918, Sabiha was still unmarried, but had several admirers. Those who knew her always said that she was not like the other women of the Ottoman family. "Sabiha Sultan was different", said the Turkish poet Yahya Kemal. Her first suiter is thought to be Rauf Orbay. He was followed by Mahmud Kemal Pasha. Another was Fuad Bey of the Babanzade clan. Captain Safvet Arikan, Lieutinant Suphi Bey from Damascus were other suitors, but none of them were accepted. Her betrothal to Ahmad Shah Qajar, the last ruling member of the Qajar dynasty and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was forfeited in favor of her second cousin Sehzade Ömer Faruk thus missing her chance of becoming the first "First Lady" of the nascent Turkish Republic. Sabiha and Sehzade Ömer Faruk, the son of Abdulmejid II, the last Caliph of the Ottoman Caliphate and Sehsuvar Hanim, were in love with each other. When Abdulmejid asked Sabiha's hand in marriage for his son, Mehmed flatly refused as there was no such thing as a marriage between cousins. Sehsuvar Hanim, the prince's mother called on Nazikeda, and succeeded in convincing her. The marriage took place on 5 December 1919, in the pavilion of the sacred relics, Topkapi Palace. The marriage was performed by Seyhülislam Hayrizade Ibrahim Efendi. Sabiha Sultan's deputy was Baskatip Ali Fuad Bey, and Ömer Faruk's deputy was Ömer Yaver Pasha. The wedding reception took place four months later on 29 April 1920 at the Yildiz Palace. The couple were given the Nisantasi Palace as their residence. Fatma Neslisah Osmanoglu was a granddaughter of the last Ottoman Caliph Abdulmejid II and his first wife, Sehsuvar Hanim and granddaughter of the last Ottoman Sultan Mehmed VI and his first wife, Nazikeda Kadin. She was the daughter of Sehzade Ömer Faruk (1898-1969/1971) and his first wife and cousin Sabiha Sultan (1894-1971). Extremely rare.

Mirza Makhdum between two worlds: A Safavid Sadr in the Ottoman world and his refutation of the Qizilbash beliefs.

He was a high-ranking bureaucrat in the Safavid State, but after taking refuge in the Ottoman Empire, he began a career as a judge in Diyarbakir, Tripoli and Haramayn in the late sixteenth century. He lived with a dilemma not only in the countries in which he lived, but also in his family life. Since, his mother's side is Sunni, his father's side is Shi'a. His work on the Qizilbash titled Al-Nawâkid li-Bunyân al-Rawâfid is crucial to understand the era. This study indicates the identity crisis of Mîrzâ Makhdûm via investigating the Sunni-Shia conflict through the eyes of a scholar and tries to understand how a scholar from Iran has reached high ranks in the Ottoman Empire. Also, this study provides an exciting opportunity to understand the Safavid policy in the sixteenth century, the bureaucracy in the ilmiye class and the attitude of the Ottoman bureaucrats towards the Safavid scholars.

[i.e. A third-year student is obliged to speak French]. 2-) Fransizca konusmak saat (12)den (4)e çar-yek (çeyrek -quarter-) kalaya kadar olan zamanlardan maada her zaman mecburîdir. [i.e. Speaking in French is always obligatory, just except for the time of 12:00 to 15:45]. 3-) Tekellüm, ikinci sinifdan yukari olan talebe ile mecburîdir. [i.e. Speaking French is compulsory with students who are older than Second Year]. 4-) Her (5) kelime için (10) para alinir. [i.e. 10 liras will be taken for every 5 words]. [.] And there are six articles more on regulation paper related to French language. Ahvâl-i gazavât der diyâr-i Bosna: The Bosnian frontier at wars of 1736-1739 Ottoman-Russo-Austro: A case study on Ömer Bosnavi's work. The book was accepted by YÖK as Master thesis in 2014 and published as book firstly by Lambert Press in January, 2016. After acceptance of thesis in 2014, a few studies published but Ömer Bosnavi's work was firstly published by me. Therefore first original transcription involve in that book. That study aims to offer an outline of the Ottoman-Russo-Austro War in 1736-1739 and also attempts to portray the Bosnia Frontier, an important subregion the Austro-Ottoman war. To provide a more detailed understanding of the Bosnian frontier, the first transcription of Ömer of Novi's "Ahval-i Gazavat Der Diyar-i Bosna" was included as a primary source in the study. While the Ottoman Empire was engaged in the Persian Wars in the 1730s, both Austrian and Russian Empires pursued a hostile policy the Ottoman Empire in accordance with the terms of a treaty of alliance in 1726. Upon the invasion of Crimea by Russians, the Ottomans declared a war against Russia in 1736. After Austria completed the preparations of the war, and joined in the battle on the side of Russia in 1737. In the beginning of the war, Austrians occupied the fortress of Nish and organized campaigns in such regions as Wallachia, Vidin, and Bosnia. But the fortress of Nish was successfully taken back by the Ottomans, yet unsuccessful campaigns in the Vidin and Wallachia, and especially in Bosnia after the defeat of Hildburghasuen by the Governor of Bosnia Hekimoglu Ali Pasha in the Battle of Banja Luka changed the course of the war. Following the siege of Belgrade by Ivaz Pasha, the grand vizier, and a positive consequence of joining of Hekimoglu in the siecle, Austria was ultimately forced to make peace in 1739.
