This includes short biographies and descriptions of the actions of the various members of the Christian Endeavor Union in Cleveland including many photo portraits. With accounts of the actions and efforts undertaken by the group. The Christian Endeavor group was originally started in Portland Maine in 1881 under the name United Society of Christian Endeavor. The movement grew throughout the US and beyond promoting interdenominational efforts to contribute positively to the life of the church. It is still active today Encyclopedia Brittanica. This includes Sarven patent wheels Sarven Patent Sulky wheels wood hub sulky wheels the Original Concord Wheel Concord Express Wheels and oak cart wheels. The Holt Brothers was a large manufacturer of wheels and other items forming in Stockton California but maintaining factories in Concord New Hampshire. They were known for being the first to manufacture a continuous track tractor as well as leading sales in combine harvesters. They eventually merged with another company through which the Caterpillar company emerged. GOOD condition. Horizontal and vertical fold creases present with splitting and tearing along the folds. The rear of the flyer discusses the Partisan Defense Committee and its goals as well as its aims in conjunction with the Spartacist League a leftist group in the United States often associated with Trotskyist politics and identity with the Revolutionary Communist Youth being a group within the league for younger people. Joan Little is an African-American woman charged with murder in 1974 after resisting a sexual assault committed by a white prison guard. Little was acquitted of murder with her acquittal being the first for a woman in the United States using the defense of justifiable deadly force to resist sexual assault. POOR condition. Pamphlet. 16 pp. A pamphlet apparently endorsing Lorenzo Sherwood as a candidate for president of the United States while also arguing against the corporate interests that controlled the various railways in the United States. Lorenzo Sherwood served in the New York State Legislature in the early 1840s as part of a radical democrat faction relocating to Galveston Texas in 1846. There he advocated for clients against large railroad owners and helped to establish a state plan for railroad development in the 1850s. He also opposed slavery and his views on the federal government's legislation on the matter saw him forced out of office as well as being the recipient of death threats. No author date or location although dates in the text indicate the treatment took place around 1851-1852 perhaps in Massachusetts. Single sheet folded into four pages all full of writing. The author documents his encounter with a 28 year old male who had broken his humerus in a carriage fall. It had not healed correctly despite attempts by other doctors. The doctor/author of this letter recalls his efforts to reset the bones including removing callouses and other treatments that eventually led to an apparent somewhat successful outcome. FAIR/GOOD condition. A one by two inch area of loss present at the upper left corner resulting in small amounts of MISSING text in that location on the first two pages. Dark browning present in this area with other small spots of browning and staining to the paper. Small hole at the center fore edge with a few letters missing because of this. Another tiny hole present in the last page. Horizontal fold creases present. A few tiny tears along the extremities. Light fading. No Publisher unknown‎
