Dopo la legge 180. Testimoni ed esperienze della salute mentale in Italia
br. Nel 1978 la legge 180 ha sancito l'abolizione dei manicomi. Sono passati quarant'anni e molte cose sono cambiate: perché si ha l'impressione di non sapere bene che cosa sia successo? Dopo la "rivoluzione" di Basaglia, bisognava applicare la legge e promuovere le buone pratiche; in questo modo però potrebbe essere venuta meno l'esigenza di fare i conti con le zone d'ombra che ogni azione storica, anche la più illuminata, porta con sé. Contraddizioni che gli operatori devono aver sperimentato sulla loro pelle, senza riuscire a farne un terreno condiviso di riflessione e discussione. Ne è derivata una certa opacità, nociva sia per la trasmissione dell'esperienza di Basaglia, sia per la possibilità di continuare a rapportarsi alla realtà con un atteggiamento critico e trasformativo. L'anniversario della 180 è diventato così l'occasione per mettere fra parentesi alcuni luoghi comuni e raccogliere una serie di voci che raccontassero, ciascuna dal proprio punto di vista, la realtà concreta della salute mentale. La prima parte del volume ospita una "cronistoria" dei servizi a Martina Franca: un'intensa conversazione a tre voci che manda in frantumi la vetrina dell'"esperienza esemplare" e sollecita riflessioni di grande interesse, anche per una platea più larga di storici, sociologi e filosofi. La seconda parte è dedicata, prima a un'analisi della nozione di "salute mentale", grazie al confronto con alcuni protagonisti del dibattito attuale (Bellahsen, Benasayag, Frances, Saraceno), poi all'illustrazione di un progetto che ha coinvolto gli studenti delle scuole superiori: un'esperienza nata dalla consapevolezza che la salute mentale, pur continuando a porsi come alternativa al manicomio, debba accettare la sfida del rapporto con le nuove generazioni, cercando in primo luogo di promuovere una "cultura" della salute diversa da quella basata sul riduttivo binomio "diagnosi-trattamento farmacologico". Il volume si conclude coinvolgendo nella riflessione altri protagonisti della salute mentale in Italia (Colucci, Stoppa): una finestra per allargare l'orizzonte e continuare a interrogarsi sulle proprie pratiche e i propri saperi.
