Reverend Charles Samuel Stewart 1795-1870 served as missionary in to the Sandwich Islands from 1823 to 1825. In 1828 he became a Chaplain in the U.S. Navy. He served in various places including: on the U.S.S. Brandywine from 1841 to 1842 a hospital in New York from 1847 to 1848 on the U.S.S. Congress from 1851 to 1853 and on the steam frigate Niagara from 1861 to 1862.
