Over 3 journeys in the 1600s Lithgow travelled through most of Europe the Middle East and Holy Land North Africa including Morocco Egypt and Libya. A shotened account of his first 'peregrination' was published in 1614 and a selection of his travels were published in Hakluyts Posthumus of 1625. Not until 1632 was the first full version published.
