In 8 (cm 17 x 22,5), pp. XII + 412 (i.e. 312). Errore di numerazione delle pagine (da pagina 128 si passa a 229 invece di 129). Legatura coeva in piena pergamena. Testo su due colonne. Raccolta di opere mediche di Friedrich Hoffmann (1660-1742), medico tedesco, originario di Halle. Hoffmann considerava le malattie come il risultato di alterazioni delle parti solide e liquide del corpo e delle loro funzioni e, coerente con la sua prospettiva meccanicistica, faceva svolgere un ruolo determinante alle modificazioni della tonicita' delle fibre e della meccanica del flusso sanguigno. Hoffmann poneva al centro del suo sistema il tonus, cioe' la capacita' di dilatarsi e di contrarsi delle fibre che costituiscono l'organismo. Il tonus viene regolato da un fluido, detto etere nervoso, che viene portato dal cervello a tutto il corpo. Ogni modificazione del tonus comporta un'alterazione dello stato di salute. Le sue teorie lo avvicinarono a quelle di Hermann Boerhaave, operante a Leida, la cui visione del corpo era quella di una macchina idraulica interamente governata da leggi meccaniche. Tra gli studi qui presenti: Observationes barometrico-meteorologicae & epidemicae; De salinis Halensibus commentatio; De diaboli potentia in corpora; Observationes et cautelae circa thermarum et acidularum usum et abusum; Scrutinium physico-medicum principiorum et virtutum in praecipuis medicatis Germaniae Fontibus. Si rileva, qui compreso, il saggio De diaboli potentia in corpora, pubblicato in edizione originale ad Halle nel 1703, sulla presenza del diavolo nel mondo e nel corpo.

Edizione veneziana della sola parete degli Opuscula pathologico-practica di Friedrich Hoffmann, usciti in precedenza, sempre a Venezia, nel 1738, unitamente ad altre opere. Hoffmann (1660-1742), chimico tedesco, medico personale di Federico I a Berlino, fu professore di medicina ad Halle, autore di trattati sulla analisi delle acque minerali, sulla magnesia alba e fondatore dell'analisi chimica. Hoffmann si fece portavoce di una medicina razionale e sistematica con cui assunse una posizione intermedia tra il vitalismo animistico di Stahl e il meccanicismo di Boerhaave.

Extremely rare first and only edition: a defence of astrology written against the criticisms of Martin Luther, quoting Avicenna and other Arabic scholars. "In 1520 Luther had published a comment to the decalogue, including among the violators of the first commandment also magicians, necromancers, and astrologers. Luther's hostility toward astrology was great; moreover, this anti-astronomical polemic on a religious basis was widespread enough as was the traditional, contrary attempt to show [...] the religious legitimacy of astrology. But, coming from a heretic such as Luther, this new attack on astrology could very easily be turned around. Laurent Fries, a physician and astrologer of Colmar, intervened in defense of the science of the stars with a short work (Ein kurtze Schirmred der Kunst Astrologie ... [A Brief Defense of the Art of Astrology], J. Grüninger, Strasbourg, 1520) written in the form of a dialogue between Fries himself and Luther. In this work Fries tried to show that astrology was, from a Christian point of view, perfectly orthodox and not therefore, as Luther had maintained, a pagan science" (cf. C. Ginzburg, Il nicodemismo [Turin, 1970], p. 30). Among the witnesses called by Fries in defense of astrology are not only the gospels and the great thinkers of antiquity, but also several of the great Muslim philosophers and physicians, including Ibn Sina (Avicenna), Muhammad ibn Zakariya al-Razi (Rhazes) and 'Ali ibn al-'Abbas al-Majusi (Haly Abbas). - Occasional insignificant browning; some smudging of printer's ink on second and third folio; contemporary correction and marginal note in ink on fol. A2v. Apparently removed from an old sammelband, numbered "37" at the head of the title by an early hand. Not a single copy is known in the trade; only one is listed via VD16 (in the Bavarian State Library in Munich; a variant imprint of the title is in Göttingen). VD 16, F 2861. USTC 644398. Not in Pegg, Hohenemser, Knaacke, Kuczynski etc.

Nella prima parte del libro vengono illustrate le basi scientifiche sulle quali il progetto si è sviluppato. I concetti teorici della musicoterapia e dell'inclusione sono presentati in modo rigoroso e accompagnati da un continuo riferimento alla loro declinazione concreta nell'esperienza di Ologramma. Si passa poi a descrivere l'«oggi» di Ologramma, per coinvolgere maggiormente il lettore nella comprensione delle tappe percorse a partire dal 2010, quando il gruppo nasce per iniziativa del Centro Europeo di Musicoterapia (CEMU). La parte finale racconta le numerose partecipazioni a due eventi che ogni anno si svolgono a Modena: il Festival della Filosofia e le celebrazioni della Giornata Internazionale della Memoria.

Hardcover, bound in the original publisher's grey three-quarters cloth and printed boards, 2 gilt lettering-pieces, bit rubbed, to spine; front inner hinge cracked, title-page with a vertical fold-mark and small damage due to silverfish activity, utmost blank lower corner vaguely dampmarked throughout. In a very good condition, excellent plates. ~ First edition. A remarkable production. Collotype is one of the most accurate and attractive methods of photomechanical tonal printing processes. Highly skilled and expensive process, it cannot produce more than a limited number of impressions. It has been used for single-sheet prints and luxury portfolios, and since the 1950s has been abandoned by all except a few small specialist firms.
