réf. 629190Unbound. Very Good. Quarto. One page letter to rare bookseller Ernest Maggs of Maggs Brothers in London dated November 16 1929 from the exiled King of Portugal Manuel II Old folds from mailing a little light toning very good. Manuel sends along two manuscripts not present to be typed and returned. There is an intriguing line where the King inquires: "Have you any news from the Doctor & do you know when he is coming back I am anxious to know if there are many questions to be settled. I think it will be neccesary to have a little conference when he returns with you & Morison to try and decide several important points not yet quite settled regarding the 2nd vol. of the book. According to the website of the very-much-still-functioning Maggs Brothers the bookselling firm among many other things: ".helped King Manuel of Portugal form his great library." and discusses that relationship a bit further. One does not have to stretch too far to speculate that "The Doctor" in question who was so anxiously awaited was most likely referring to Dr. A.S.W. Rosenbach unknown
