Effigie in medaglione dell'Imperatore Francesco I, cui l'opera è dedicata, incisa in rame al titolo. Frontesizio in rosso e nero. Testatina con veduta dei bagni e capolettera con il Duomo e la Torre a p. 1. Ex-libris ottocentesco Ferdinando Cortesi e firma di possesso sempre ottocentesca (Ranuccio Luigi Scarpacci). Un restauro alla cuffia superiore. Esemplare assai fresco. Prima edizione di questo importante trattato sulle virtù medicinali dei bagni di Pisa. Il Cocchi (Benevento, 1695-Firenze, 1758) fu eminentemente medico e scienziato. Conosciuto come "il filosofo mugellano" (per via delle sue origini, ancorché beneventano per nascita), fu medico all'isola d'Elba, in Francia, in Olanda e in Inghilterra, frequentando, nel corso dei suoi viaggi, Newton e Boerhaave. Professore a Pisa e a Firenze, in questa città ordinò l'ospedale di Santa Maria Nuova e l'Orto Botanico. I suoi copiosissimi contributi medico-scientifici concernono le tenie, l'anatomia, la dietetica, la storia naturale, l'idroterapia, etc. Fu anche il primo italiano ad affiliarsi alla Massoneria. Perfetta legatura coeva in pergamena rigida con dorso a piccoli nervi. Tagli rossi. Smagliante esemplare, marginoso, a carte candide ed in perfetto stato di conservazione. Stampato su carta forte. Testo originale greco e latino a fronte. Edizione originale ed unica per questa raccolta di testi di medicina antica raccolti e presentati da Antonio Cocchi. Vi appaiono i due lunghi testi di Oribasio e Sorano da Efeso seguiti da alcune dissertazioni di minor mole. I due testi di ortopedia appaiono per la prima volta a stampa e provengono da manoscritti miracolosamente sopravvissuti. Dal punto di vista scientifico rivelano una sorprendente conoscenza della struttura anatomica, soprattutto nella microcomposizione ossea. Cfr. Due volumi di cm. 27, pp. (8) xxviii, 222; (2) 262 (2). Ritratto di Leopoldo II, cui l'opera è dedicata, inciso in rame al primo volume. I frontespizi e le carte di dedica sono incisi. Ottima legatura coeva in cart. alla rustica con nervi passanti. Una lievissima brunitura marginale alle prime carte del secondo volume, peraltro esemplare in eccellente stato di conservazione, ad ampi margini, in barbe ed elegantemente impresso. Edizione originale, non comune, di una delle opere più significative dell'erudito Antonio Cocchi, di nascita beneventana ma di toscana acquisizione. In essa Cocchi manifesta le sue conoscenze in campo medico sposandole con la grande capacità oratoria, doti non comuni a trovarsi accomunate. Cfr. Gamba (2202): "Devesi questa bella e corretta edizione alle cure del dott. Andrea Pasta... Oltre a' Consulti, che s'erano pubblicati nell'edizione de' Discorsi Toscani, una serie numerosa contiene, di altri che giacevano inediti".

Frontespizi in rosso e nero con vignette centrali, una tavola all'antiporta del primo volume con ritratto del Cocchi ed altra figura allegorica ed una tabella più volte ripiegata al secondo volume. Leg. coeva in cart. alla rustica con dorsi originariamente ricoperti in carta marmorizzata, etichette coeve con titoli ben manoscritti. Esemplare genuino e marginoso, in ottimo stato di conservazione. Prima edizione, non comune. Cfr. Gamba 2201; Brunet II, 205.

Cacao e olio da olive

Tutti gli effetti del cacao e dell'olio da olive sulla salute in un libro inedito e ricco di novità per i suoi contenuti nello scenario editoriale, a firma dello studioso di biochimica Massimo Cocchi. il cacao può influenzare il dimagrimento, riducendo il Body Mass Index, ma fa bene anche bene al nostro umore ed è capace di alleggerire l'affaticamento mentale e migliorare il pensiero cognitivo. Un suo consumo ragionevole è sinonimo di miglioramento dello stato di salute e di prevenzione di una serie di malattie, anche degenerative, come il morbo di Alzheimer. Quanto all'olio e ai suoi effetti benefici, si è scritto molto di più. Tanti lavori di elevato prestigio internazionale confermano che l'olio da olive giochi un ruolo chiave nella prevenzione della patologia cardiovascolare e nel contrastare la cardiopatia ischemica. L'olio da olive previene la trombosi e l'aggregazione piastrinica.
