It may be mentioned that she is the first lady who apologizes for her boldness in venturing to treat certain maladies which a lady would hardly be expected ti include. The cookery part is well arranged, the medical part is full of horrors. Couverture très légèrement insolée, bel exemplaire dans l'ensemble et agréable décoration japonisante. Ex-libris de Georges Corriez, célèbre relieur associé à Georges Canape.‎

‎[S.l.], [S.n.], [fine dei XVIII sec. - primi del XIX secolo], manoscritto su carta, anonimo, in-4, legatura coeva in mezza pelle (spellature al dorso, evidenti consunzioni alla cartonatura dei piatti), tagli rossi, carte [196]. Il volume è composto da un testo principale - intitolato Koch Buch - steso da una sola mano, probabilmente alla fine del Settecento, composto dalle prime 160 carte, contenente circa 450 ricette gastronomiche divise in molti sezioni/capitoli - fra le quali segnaliamo: von unterschiedlichen Suppen (di varie zuppe); vom Kindfleisch (della carne per i bimbi); vom Voressen (del pasto); von Wursteln (delle salsicce); von Pasteten (delle torte); von Soossen und Bruhen (di salse e brodi); vom Gebratenen (del fritto); von Mandeln (delle mandorle); von allerhand Kochen (di tutti i tipi di cucina); von Torteln (delle torte); von allerhand Muss (di ogni tipo di mosto); von Sastenspeisen (dei succhi di frutta); von Milchen (dei latti). Il testo vero e proprio riempie le prime 146 carte ed è seguito da 14 carte recanti l'indice delle ricette. Seguono 23 carte stese da un'altra mano, probabilmente in epoca di poco successiva recanti altre ricette gastronomiche. Chiudono il volume 13 carte lasciate bianche (2 recano degli scarabocchi a matita). Il manoscritto principale (Koch Buch) reca una paginazione manoscritta coeva - pp. [2], da 1 a 238, da 243 a 282, da 287 a 297, [1] + [28 di indice]- che suggerisce la mancanza di 4 carte (8 pagine). L'interno è ben conservato, salvo la presenza di alcuni fascicoli sciolti.‎

Le prime 26 carte sono strutturate come un indice-rubrica, con i richiami delle lettere manoscritti sul lato esterno del primo foglio dedicato a ciascuna lettera, in ordine alfabetico: contengono i titoli di 143 ricette, con riferimento alla pagina dove si trovano; le seguenti 21 carte, paginate a mano 1-42, recano le ricette, molte relative a dolci. Le ultime 56 sono state lasciate bianche. Ottime condizioni.‎

Ranelletti), 3 biglietti a stampa firmati (uno ancora del sindaco, uno di nuovo del rettore, il terzo del prefetto di Pavia); 1 cartoncino dattiloscritto, recante, il menù del pranzo in questione.‎

Rare Cheap Repository tract by Hannah More, aimed through the use of a moral tale at helping less educated and poor women run efficient, economical kitchens which could still provide nutritious food to their families. ‎The National Cook Book. By a Lady of Philadelphia. A Practical Housewife.‎

‎First edition, 8vo, xi, [4], 16-301, [1, blank], vii (ads), [1, blank]pp., first gathering loose, margins to title-page and prelims slightly chipped, endpapers defective, cont. sheep, upper cover detached, lower cover lacking, in need of restoration. The rare first edition the this cookery book which was wholly devoted to American receipts. Hannah Peterson n?e Bouvier, published this work anonymously along with all editions published during her lifetime. A preface to a later edition, written by her husband after her death, indicates that 'When this work was prepared for the Press, she declined to let her name appear as the author, from her great dislike to notoriety, observing that "a woman should never be known outside of her own home."' [...] Le Thé Béraud est donc journellement ordonné : 1- comme purgatif... 2- pour expulser la bile... 3- comme laxatif... 4- comme dérivatif... 5- comme dépuratif... 6- pour absorber les gaz... 7- comme vermifuge... les sages femmes recommandent ce médicament aux femmes en couches...". Document édifiant. Il ne reste plus à la municipalité de Bourg en Bresse qu'à donner le nom de Thé-Béraud à une rue de la ville, en reconnaissance de la prospérité apportée pendant plus de 50 ans et à la découverte médicale qui est restée dans toutes les mémoires ! Amusant document en bel état.‎
